Overview
Discover the hidden beauty of Materuni Village, just a short drive from Moshi. This is more than a day trip – it’s a journey into the heart of Chagga culture and nature. As a locally born and raised guide, I will take you beyond the usual tourist path and show you the traditions, flavors, and landscapes I grew up with.
At Materuni, you’ll hike through lush greenery to the stunning Materuni Waterfalls, which plunge 90 meters into a refreshing pool. Along the way, you’ll learn about local plants, farming practices, and village life.
After the hike, you’ll be welcomed into a Chagga household for a traditional coffee-making ceremony, where you’ll roast, grind, and brew your own cup of organic Arabica coffee, the same way our grandparents have done for generations. Once you are finished with the coffee tour, you will be served hot lunch(Local Dishes). From here you will be dropped off at your accommodation in Moshi.
This is an authentic experience combining nature, culture, and hospitality that only locals can offer.
